What Is A Resistivity Survey?

A resistivity method is a survey of the ground underneath. One is called resistivity surveying. They find out the layers underneath and what they are made out of. They use this to help us figure out more about our world.

These methods are being referred to as Geo Vision, and people who specialize in this area are referred to as GeoVision geophysicists. This is because they have the ability to see the geography beneath the earth. Now they can form two dimensional images using this method of resistivity.
Electrodes that are sent into the earth with a resistivity meter will measure the resistance the soil gives. We can determine what type of terrain we will find underground. The way this works is the lower the resistance the more muddy or damp areas would be. The higher the resistance the more stony it would be. The levels of these resistances are graphed with a different color for each. A method like this is useful when constantly dealing with large amounts of areas. They will be able to find artifacts, fossils and even vase grave sites. This is ideally useful in areas where permission to dig is rare to receive unless proven useful for the culture. That type of issue is common in some countries.
Who Can use it?
Typically those who are in the field of geosciences use a resistivity survey. Geologists will use this to help them discover how old an area is without destroying the soil. Also any paleontologist, anthropologist, or archeologist would use a resistivity method. These scientists in these fields are researching areas where they need to preserve the history. When finding areas to excavate, they will use resistivity surveying. They will be able to locate where not to dig or even if they have the possibility of finding artifacts. They will be able to know what type of equipment they will need or what type of permissions they will have to acquire.
To wrap things up, geoscientists are basically using big versions of metal detectors. Geologists will use a resistivity method to help them discover the age of an area with no need to dig. This is what is fascinating about these tools. The technology is used widely to help us learn about our earth, yet never having to dig a hole unless needed.
Learning about cultures that have inhabited before ours will help us to continue to understand ourselves better. The technology discovers the depths of the earth and is a more efficient way that we can unearth people's history.
