The story of Paul Zumot has gripped the entire state of California, and people are still debating over his innocence or guilt. He was convicted of murdering his girlfriend and future fiance, Jennifer Schipsi. But this led to a lot of questions because the conviction was based solely on testimonies and hearsay, rather than on the physical evidence. Let us take a look into the story of this unfortunate event.

Zumot and Schipsi had a happy but tumultuous relationship for over two years, but Zumot was actually preparing to get more serious and was contemplating on asking his girlfriend to marry him. Schipsi was a beautiful real estate agent while Zumot was the owner of a hookah lounge. Theirs was not a perfect relationship because they actually broke up a number of times, but always ended up back together. But sadly, their relationship was not meant to go further.

On a sunny October day, Schipsi's body was found burning in her bed, obviously murdered by another person. Zumot arrived at the scene distressed about what happened to his girlfriend. Some video footages of the actual interrogation showed Zumot to be cooperative and willing to answer questions. However, the police later declared that Zumot was very uncooperative when he was questioned on the scene.

The night before the murder, the couple reportedly had a fight, which resulted to a heated exchange of text messages. However, Zumot maintained that those exchanges were common in their relationship, and that they always made up after a fight. The defendant also maintained that it would have been impossible for him to have set Schipsi's body on fire, because he was in another location attending a domestic violence class. Zumot's lawyer also argued that his client could not have been guilty because Schipsi was found to have been strangled before she was set into flames. If a strangulation or choking event occurred, then it would have been normal for the victim to have grabbed the perpetrator's hands which would result to scratches on the body. However, Zumot did not have any scratches or marks on him. In addition, the prosecution argued that Zumot's clothing contained traces of gasoline, but the crime lab discovered otherwise.

Zumot was found guilty of the crime despite the lack of physical evidence that would link him to the murder. On February 10, 2011, the judge ruled to convict Zumot based on the hearsay and testimonies of witnesses in the trial.

Is Zumot really innocent or guilty? As of this moment, a lot of petitions are currently under way to reverse the ruling and free Paul Zumot.

Guilty as sin! Common sense is all you need. He has a bad temper, very volatile. The anger he had for her was uncontrollable. He absolutely had no respect for her or for women! He could not bear the fact that he had to pay her or the police will be after him - was all the reason behind this gruesome murder! May he rot in jail.

It's obvious you're bitter because I guess some guy dumped you for someone more beautiful and probably a lot more fun. You sound like sour old maid. Shame on you for trying to disparage a victim who suffered a horrible death. You must be a horrible person.

Jenny's death is sad and a horrible way to go but the truth is she was a calculating, gold digging, home wrecking, malipulating, lying tramp! She had numerous restraning orders on several different men, claiming...... What else domestic violence. How can one woman claim every man she dated physicaly abused her? She embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from men and clients. She was convicted of defrauding former clients. She changed her name in order to continue defrauding clients. She had countless affairs with older married men, accepted money, gifts, cars, vacations, plastic surgery and releastate deals from them. Then she would threaten to tell their wives about the affair if they did not give her money. She slept with several police officers so that they will help her file false accusations and police reports.

I met her on a few occasions and I know first hand how much of a lying whore she is!!! For goodness sakes she lied about her own father having cancer simply so that she could gain sympathy and money for men. If you read her police reports you will notice that she NEVER claimed Mr. Zumot ever hit her. He kicked her car and the restraining order was for phone calls and texts.

Many of you need to educate yourself and use your own mind rather than believe what you read and see on TV. Our justice system is deeply flawed. I support Mr. Zumot 100% . He is a man innocent of murder and domestic violence. I'm looking forward to his conviction being overturned!

I have never read about such a big batch of crazed drama and dysfunction in my life! Water finds its own level folks; these two remind me of every other "couple" who brought out the absolute worst in each other as opposed to the best. How sad and tragic. She's dead now; whatever she was like in life "for real"...I hope she's landed in a place where she is finally at peace. As for him, I don't know who he thinks God is "for real"...but it sure isn't who he sees in the mirror every morning! Check yourself before you wreck yourself any further than you already have dude! (And if you are truly innocent of her murder, God already knows that so what's the problem? You are "at" where you are meant to be "at" for now---so just chill the heck out and use the mental health services available to you to get your MIND together while you have the chance there!)

Being free doesn't mean squat if you are the same person as you were going in as you are coming out! (Then you'll just find yourself another "Jennifer" to be crazy with on the outside anyway!) DOH!

Mena,

A lot of what you are saying is true but one think I know is NOT true and that when water finds its own level but what if Fire constantly threatens to dry it out. What I mean by that is Jennifer always threatened Mr. Zumot to have him thrown in jail if he did not do what she wanted and whenever he broke up with her. That is the truth! Someone's true colors eventually surface, oh how get colors surfaced not even hundred thousand dollies worth of plastic surgery could cover that up. Read for yourself at the website listed above in the article and that my dear Mena is "for real"

this girl made alot of enemies...rich powerful enemies...married enemies that did not want her spilling the beans about their extramarital affairs..so the easiest blame is the boyfriend...lightning is lazy..it goes the easiest route...i have a strange gut feeling the wrong person is in jail..was going to say the wrong man...but one of the wives may have found out too..when you play by the sword....
